Scaling impact

I worked at Copperleaf Technologies for nearly seven years. During that time I contributed to the growth and scale as a successful Canadian unicorn in 2021. Originally, I was hired to lead the design and development of two new SaaS offerings to accompany their flagship product and while we succesfully delivered those products to the market my role shifted from individual contributor to leader.

I was able to impact every part of the business influencing the culture and ability for the organization to hire and retain world class design, product, and engineering talent. Focusing the year-by-year lens I have highlighted several accomplishments that stood out and reinforce the value I can create as a hands on leader.

During my time at Copperleaf I was able to lead the evolution of product development towards an empowered trio model. I helped the organization stay ahead of the growing pains by instituting the right processes at the right times and evolving how we worked between Product, Design, Development, and the rest of the organization.

During the nearly seven years I was able to accomplish great things with my team and with it established a culture the allowed for people to accomplish great things for the organization.

  • Defined, scaled, and evolved the Design function
  • 80% team retention rate over the nearly 7 years
  • Promoted 3 individuals from Individual Contributors to Leadership roles
  • Helped coach and sponsor 2 team members to different job families
  • Managed the ups, and downs of performance management

The impact of my leadership also was instrumental in the success of the organization and the growth they we were able to accomplish that continues to contribute to the success of the Copperleaf products and organization.
